Monday Morning News - Afternoon Edition

Good Afternoon and Welcome to the Monday Morning News - Afternoon Edition! It's been quite a busy few days here in the Newsroom so apologies in the delay in our broadcast!

Let's first go to the National Headlines, and Luna Ortin-Newman was awarded the "Cutest Bitch" award at Dulcie's Dog Show as part of the 2012 Midsumma Carnival! Over 120,000 people attended the event which is a picnic in the park to help celebrate the GLBTIQ community! Read more about Midsumma 2012 here.

Brisbane Vet Michael O'Donoghue is pleaded with Landlords to allow pets on rental properties. Statistics from the RSPCA show that approximately 30% of owner surrendered pets are due to being unable to find appropriate accommodation. You can read more here.

Over in international news a new animal virus has taken Northern Europe by surprise. A sudden outbreak of a virus has left scientists baffled and scrambling to find where it came from and how to stop it. Read more.

This week in Entertainment, the idea has been put forward that animals in movies should be able to receive an Oscar award for their performance.  What do you think? Should Marley from "Marley and Me" have received an Oscar? Or maybe the dog from "Red Dog" or even "Beethoven"? Read more here.

  5. I live in a college town so we have lots of rentals and people move pretty frequently. Most dogs I know of that need a new home are because they cannot live in the new place someone has moved. It is so sad to me, but I would live in my car before I'd give up my dogs.
